Abu Dhabi Investment announces good news for residents and expatriates in UAE

Archer Aviation has officially signed an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office to start its international business and air taxi operations in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, starting today.

Archer Aviation, a company focused on creating electric VTOL aircraft, confirmed the opening of its first international office in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The company also announced its intention to launch an air taxi service in Abu Dhabi by signing an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, as the Abu Dhabi Investment Office offers a variety of incentives. Through the Intelligent Autonomous Vehicles Industry Park (SAVI).
Archer Aviation will establish a center of engineering excellence in Abu Dhabi to develop and implement the next generation of advanced aviation systems in cooperation with global manufacturing partner Stellantis and several local partners in the United Arab Emirates.
Archer Midnight's aircraft was recently inspected by the General Civil Aviation Authority, which visited the company's headquarters in California, USA, to learn more about the company's progress in obtaining the appropriate licenses from the Federal Aviation Administration. Once the Federal Aviation Administration gives its blessing, the Authority plans to UAE General Civil Aviation Authority to approve and license the use of the Archer air taxi and work with the Federal Aviation Administration to bring electric air taxis to the country.

The objective of introducing electric air taxi operations in the UAE:

Badr Salem Sultan Al Olama, Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, added that the introduction of electric air taxi operations in the UAE will help reduce congestion and carbon emissions, which in turn will increase foreign direct investment and generate thousands of new job opportunities in the region over the next decade.
Mubadala Capital, United Airlines, Stellantis, and Boeing are some of the aviation-focused investment companies that have contributed to Archer Aviation's financing, which has exceeded $1.1 billion to date.
Adam Goldstein, founder and CEO of Archer Aviation, recently indicated plans to cooperate with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office to establish air taxi manufacturing and management operations in the region. By joining forces, the vision of a fully electric air taxi flying over the skies of the United Arab Emirates and the region can be achieved shortly.
Archer Aviation aims to improve urban transportation by offering electric air taxis that can make 60-90 minute car trips in 10-20 minutes while reducing noise pollution and increasing productivity and sustainability, which is expensive compared to other means of transportation on the ground.

Archer Aviation is still in talks with several other companies and the company plans to announce additional memorandums of understanding at the Dubai Air Show (13-17 November 2023), the Aviation and Alternative Fuels Conference (ICAO 2022), and with the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.
