Abu Dhabi announces Heavy vehicles ban on some roads during rush hours
The Abu Dhabi Police recently made an important announcement that will affect road users during the rush hours of Monday, November 13.
Implementing a Traffic Ban
In an effort to manage traffic and enhance road safety, a traffic ban will be enforced specifically for heavy vehicles during the morning rush hour, which spans from 6.30am to 9am. This ban will also be applicable during the evening rush hour, extending from 3pm to 6pm on the same day.
Exemption for Heavy Vehicles
Under this traffic ban, heavy vehicles will be temporarily prohibited from using a specific route. This restriction applies to Suihan Road, particularly for vehicles heading towards Shwamakh via Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Street. The ban also extends to the area around the "Maffah" truck bridge, covering both directions of travel.
Alternative Route for Heavy Vehicles
To facilitate the smooth flow of traffic and to provide an alternative route for heavy vehicles during the hours of the ban, authorities have suggested an alternative route. Heavy vehicle operators are encouraged to take the alternative route, which involves using Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Street and heading towards the Zayed Military Roundabout.
From there, vehicles should proceed through Al-Adla Road, eventually reaching Al-Rawdah, which is part of the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Truck Road.
Optimizing Traffic Flow and Safety
This traffic ban for heavy vehicles during rush hours is a strategic measure aimed at optimizing traffic flow, reducing congestion, and ensuring road safety. Rush hours can often lead to traffic jams, making it important to regulate the movement of larger vehicles that might contribute to these bottlenecks.
By temporarily diverting heavy vehicles to an alternative route, authorities hope to alleviate the traffic situation and maintain order on the roads.
Cooperation and Compliance
To make this traffic ban effective, it is crucial for heavy vehicle operators and drivers to cooperate and comply with the imposed restrictions. Using the alternative route during the specified hours will not only benefit traffic management but also contribute to overall road safety. Road users are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and take note of this temporary traffic ban to avoid any inconveniences.
