Dubai has announced innovative ways to deliver food and medicine to homes in the near future via drones.
Delivery of groceries, medicines and food using “drones” in Dubai
Dubai Silicon Oasis, the economic zone specializing in knowledge and innovation and falling under the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIZ), has witnessed new experiments to deliver products using drones, as part of the Dubai Program to Enabling Drone Transport, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al. Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, in November 2021.
Testing of drones to deliver consumer goods in Dubai
The new experiments come within the framework of a partnership between “Ghibli”, the leading logistics services company based in the UAE, and “Sky Air Mobility”, the largest company in India for delivery using drones, where the tests continued for three weeks in the drone experimental area. Which was allocated in Dubai Silicon Oasis, in cooperation with the Dubai Future Laboratories of the Dubai Future Foundation, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Dubai Silicon Oasis.
Using drones to deliver goods to homes in Dubai
The trials showcased the safe and reliable transportation of a wide range of consumer goods, including groceries, medicines, food items, express commercial items, and more, within Dubai Silicon Oasis. The experiments included using Skye Ship One, the flagship aircraft of Skye Air, which contains Skye Connect (a private communication system), Skye Tunnel (a navigation system), and multiple safety systems such as parachute, collision avoidance, and more.
