Dubai imposes Fines Up to Dh500,000 for New Emblem Law Misuse
Private organizations can use the Dubai logo if they have permission from the Ruler of Dubai or another official. This safeguards the logo's integrity by ensuring that private companies employing it adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Distinct Emblem for Dubai
Dubai would like to have its own distinctive logo to represent the city and its aspirations in the future. As a symbol of the Emirate of Dubai, this logo will be safeguarded under Law No. 17 of 2023 and its implementing rules.
Issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, acted in his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai when he issued the law as an official decree.
Authorized Use and Restrictions
The newly launched emblem is now authorized for usage in all government buildings, publications, and online platforms, as well as at all official functions. This emblem may also be used by private organizations, but only after receiving permission from the Ruler of Dubai or his delegate.
Penalties for Improper Use
The law strictly regulates the use of the emblem, and any improper use can result in significant penalties. Violators may face imprisonment ranging from three months to five years, along with fines ranging from Dh100,000 to Dh500,000.
Transition Period for Individuals
Individuals who have been using the emblem in any capacity must discontinue its use within 30 days, unless they have obtained prior approval to continue using it. Government entities and those with explicit permission to use the emblem are exempt from this requirement.
The Chairman of Dubai's Ruler Court is responsible for issuing rulings that put the law into effect. The law becomes effective on the date it is published in the Official Gazette.
This new emblem law underscores Dubai's commitment to maintaining its unique identity and values while also ensuring that its representation is used appropriately and respectfully. Violations of the law will be met with strict penalties, highlighting the importance of adhering to these regulations.
