This closure, affecting both directions, will extend from the Trade Centre roundabout to the Safa Park interchange (2nd interchange) and is being implemented to accommodate the Dubai Ride cycling event.
Additional Road Closures
The road closures don't stop at Sheikh Zayed Road. Lower Financial Centre Street and Trade Centre Street will also be off-limits to traffic during this time. While the exact duration of the road closures has yet to be officially announced, based on last year's event, it's anticipated that these roads will be closed for a period of five hours, from 4 am to 9 am. Dubai Ride 2023 is scheduled to take place between 6:15 am and 8:15 am.
Plan Your Journey in Advance
To ensure a smooth commute during the event, motorists are strongly encouraged to plan their trips in advance. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has stepped in to provide alternative routes to help drivers reach their destinations without unnecessary delays. Among the alternative routes are Al Hadiqa Street, Al Wasl Street, Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Al Asayel Street, 2nd Zaa’beel Street, 2nd December Street, and Al Mustaqbal Street.
Dubai Ride and Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC)
Dubai Ride is a significant component of the broader Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), which was launched in 2017 under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai. This cycling event boasts two distinct routes that cater to riders of all skill levels. Participants will have the unique opportunity to pedal past some of Dubai's most iconic landmarks, including the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, Burj Khalifa, and various other attractions situated along Sheikh Zayed Road and in Downtown Dubai.
Past Success and Community Engagement
The previous edition of Dubai Ride, held last year, was a resounding success with the participation of 34,897 cyclists. This event serves not only to promote physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle but also as a celebration of Dubai's iconic locations. It encourages community engagement and active participation in a fun and unique way. As we prepare for another exciting Dubai Ride, let's remember the importance of road safety and cooperation during this event to ensure a seamless experience for all road users.
