Day 1 Highlights

Here are some noteworthy highlights from the first day of Gitex Global 2023:

AI-Powered Patrols:

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) plans to introduce AI-powered patrol vehicles next year. These vehicles will monitor the adherence to road safety by over 45,000 delivery riders. Equipped with high-definition cameras, these smart patrols will enhance daily inspections by a factor of five and reduce inspection time from seven minutes to just one minute.

Self-Driving Police Cars:

Dubai Police showcased self-driving patrol cars infused with AI. These vehicles are equipped with a drone launcher, radar, and surveillance cameras, enabling them to differentiate between cars, humans, and other objects. Deployment is expected next year.

Drone Deliveries:

Dubai Municipality anticipates that drone deliveries will become a reality in 2024. The municipality has already completed digital mapping of Dubai Silicon Oasis and is planning routes and landing locations for drones across the entire emirate.

Instant Passport Renewal:

Passports and Emirates IDs will soon be available for renewal around the clock, making life easier for UAE nationals and residents. Since these services will be available at all hours of the day and night, there will be no need to schedule appointments in advance for biometric submissions.

Autonomous Telecom Store:

Located at Dubai's Al Kifaf, Etisalat by e& promises to be the world's first AI-powered, fully autonomous telecommunications retail outlet. Robots will answer customers' questions about mobile phone plans, accessories, and more, eliminating the need for human help.

Luxury Marine Patrol:

Dubai Police unveiled a luxury marine patrol designed for rapid response to sea incidents. With a top speed of 45 knots per hour and smart communication linked to the command center, it is equipped for immediate rescue operations at sea.

Gitex Global 2023 is a testament to Dubai's commitment to embracing cutting-edge technology and leveraging it to enhance various aspects of urban life and safety. The event promises to provide insights into the innovative strides the city is making in embracing AI and other advanced technologies.
