The UAE Human Resources determines the conditions for granting an employee full time leave for self employment
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in the United Arab Emirates announced setting the conditions for an employee to obtain sabbatical leave for self-employment in the country.
The conditions under which an employee in the Emirates may be granted full-time leave to pursue self-employment are decided by the Human Resources department.
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has made an announcement regarding the parameters that must be met in order for an employee to get sabbatical leave for the purpose of engaging in self-employment in the country.
When can an employee take sabbatical leave for self-employment?
When is an employee eligible to take a sabbatical for the purpose of starting their own business? If an employee in the Emirates chooses to start, manage, or supervise a project that is solely his or her responsibility, he or she can apply for and get a sabbatical leave for self-employment. If a citizen worker wishes to start, manage, or supervise a project that he or she is solely responsible for, then the citizen worker is eligible for a sabbatical leave for self-employment. The employees of federal government-owned firms, temporary contract employees, and part-time workers are not eligible to apply for sabbatical leave to work, while all other citizen civil servants working in federal organizations are eligible to apply for sabbatical leave to work.
Conditions for obtaining sabbatical leave for self-employment for employees in the Emirates
Sabbatical vacation requirements and eligibility requirements for employees of self-employed businesses in the Emirates, The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources stated that the approval for a citizen employee working for any federal government entity to obtain full-time leave for self-employment is primarily linked to the role assumed by the employee requesting the leave in the project for which he wishes to be responsible. They went on to explain that if the project is already established and has obtained licenses from the appropriate authorities in the country, then the approval for the citizen employee to obtain full-time leave for self-employment can be granted. The worker must play a main role in managing or supervising it, and he must include a vision statement and work plan for the project together with his request for time off. The Authority has determined that there are a number of requirements that the employee is required to fulfill in order to be eligible for their position. The most important requirements for an employee to meet in order to qualify for full-time leave to pursue self-employment are that the employee's current employer must have given him or her a performance rating of at least two, or the equivalent, and that the employee must have worked for the federal government or a local government for a total of at least five years (the employee's total period of service is considered... the employee's period of service is considered... to be the employee's period of service). In a local entity that is acceptable for calculation, whether the employee has been transferred from a local government to the federal government, or has submitted his resignation from the local entity and been appointed to the federal government), as well as providing proof of performance of national service or providing proof of the employee's position on it, are among the conditions. In addition, providing proof of the employee's position on it is one of the conditions. One of the requirements is that the employee must provide a written assurance that he or she will not use the electronic platforms of their principal place of employment in order to publicize their venture.
