UAE announces New Visa Campaign to Assist Expats rectify entry permit status

A nationwide awareness campaign was launched on October 10 and will continue for three months in the UAE. The campaign aims to educate individuals about violations related to tourist, work, and job-seeker visas. It emphasizes the importance of rectifying visa status after the initial visa expires, either by obtaining a new visa or legally exiting the country.

A Comprehensive UAE Awareness Campaign on Visa Violations

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) launched an extensive awareness campaign on Tuesday to address issues related to visa violations, particularly concerning tourist, work, and job-seeker visas. The campaign emphasizes the importance of expatriates and tourists rectifying their visa status promptly after the expiration of their initial visa. This rectification process involves either obtaining a new visa or exiting the country legally.

Key Information on Labor Laws

In addition to visa-related matters, the campaign also aims to inform the public about the provisions of the new UAE labor law that came into effect last year. This part of the campaign seeks to educate both employers and employees about their rights and responsibilities under the labor law.

Multilingual Approach

The awareness campaign takes a bilingual approach in order to communicate with as many people as possible. In order to deliver its messages in the most efficient manner, it will do so in four languages: Arabic, English, Urdu, and Swahili.

Joint Effort of Government Entities

The campaign is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP). It officially commenced on October 10 and will continue for a duration of three months. Various government entities, as well as free zones, will actively participate in this initiative.

Promoting legal compliance

One of the primary goals of the campaign is to familiarize people with the essential provisions of entry and residency laws for foreign nationals in the UAE. It will also explain the regulations governing labor relations, including the newly enacted labor law. By providing information about the procedures and penalties for violators, the campaign aims to encourage its target audience to comply with the laws. Ultimately, this approach ensures the protection of the rights of both employers and employees in the context of employment relationships.

Legal Consequences for Violations

Major-General Suhail Al Khaili, director-general of the ICP, emphasized that the campaign would not only provide information but also highlight the legal measures taken against violators. This aspect underscores the seriousness of visa and labor law violations and aims to deter individuals from engaging in such activities.

In summary, the UAE's comprehensive awareness campaign on visa violations seeks to educate the public about the importance of adhering to visa and labor laws. By providing information in multiple languages and involving various government entities, the campaign aims to promote legal compliance and protect the rights of all parties involved.
