UAE announces Official dates for the next long week-end in 2023

At the beginning of the lunar month, Muslims around the world will begin celebrating Eid al-Fitr, a festival that lasts for nine days. Astronomical calculations suggest that Sunday, April 10, 2024 will mark the beginning of Eid al-Fitr. We are still waiting for official feedback and moon observations before officially adopting this strategy.

UAE Commemoration Day and National Day

The first of December is today known as UAE Commemoration Day, but it was formerly known as Martyrs' Day. This momentous occasion is scheduled for a Friday in 2023. On December 2 and 3, a slew of enormous celebrations will be held in honor of the United Arab Emirates' National Day.

This year, these dates occur on a Saturday and Sunday, possibly allowing locals a three-day weekend to immerse themselves in the spirit of togetherness, culture, and national pride. Since these dates fall on a Saturday and Sunday, residents may look forward to celebrating these holidays on Saturday and Sunday.

Commemoration Day and National Day Holiday Traditions

Traditionally, the UAE authorities have combined the Commemoration Day holiday and the National Day break. Although not included in the official list of holidays for 2023, the UAE has previously acknowledged this solemn occasion by declaring a Commemoration Day holiday for both public and private sector employees.

Official announcements are awaited

The exact number of holidays for these occasions will be determined by official announcements from the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). While the anticipation for an upcoming long weekend is high, residents will have to exercise patience before solidifying their plans.

During this time of the year, the UAE transforms into a spectacle of dazzling fireworks, extravagant celebrations, and a multitude of exciting events, promising a memorable and vibrant conclusion to the year.

Looking Ahead to Eid Al Fitr Break in 2024

Moreover, 2024 is expected to bring a lengthy break for Eid al-Fitr. Based on astronomical calculations, Eid is forecast to fall on April 10, 2024, although this date is subject to change depending on moon sightings and official announcements.
