Abu Dhabi's First Traditional Hindu Stone Temple Nears Grand Opening

The construction of this iconic temple, initiated in December 2019, is reaching its final stages. Sadguru Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami, the global convener of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, the organization responsible for the temple's construction, recently conducted a significant ceremony.

With Pujya Brahmaviharidas Swami, the head of the BAPS Hindu Mandir, he ascended in a crane-lifted box to shower flower petals over the temple's seven spires, each representing one of the UAE's emirates.

A Monument of Unity and Inclusivity

This day held great importance for the temple, symbolizing global unity, peace, and inclusivity. Artisans, volunteers, devotees, and Ishwarcharan Swami shared immense pride and joy as they observed the breathtaking progress of Abu Dhabi's first temple.

An Aerial Perspective

Ishwarcharan Swami marveled at the view from above, saying, "It looks incredible and magnificent from above." The temple is constructed from pink sandstone and white marble, sprawling across 27 acres in Abu Mureikha, off the Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway.

The temple features intricate artistry, portraying pivotal moments from Indian mythological epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata, as well as other Hindu scriptures. Ishwarcharan Swami personally oversaw the ongoing work, commending the dedication and selfless service of all those involved. He offered blessings, saying, "May peace prevail here and everywhere."

Visitors and dignitaries

Dharmendra Pradhan, India's Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, visited the temple during his official visit to the UAE. He expressed gratitude to the BAPS Sampradaya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the leaders of Abu Dhabi for providing the land for this civilizational monument. The minister believes the temple will contribute to global harmony and peace.

A Spiritual Oasis

Dubbed a 'spiritual oasis for global harmony,' the temple is expected to endure for over a thousand years. It will open its doors to the world on February 14, accompanied by a 'Festival of Harmony.' Further details on the opening ceremony and registration can be found on the Festival of Harmony app or website.
