Abu Dhabi Temporarily Bans Vehicles on Major Streets in October 2023
The Abu Dhabi government has stated that, as of the 9th of October, only certain classes of cars will be allowed on the emirate's primary roads.

The Integrated Transport Center and the Abu Dhabi Police Department collaborated on the announcement, and it and subsequent updates were shared across various social media channels.
The ban specifically applies to buses designed to carry 50 passengers or more. These buses will be prohibited from traveling on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street, spanning from Sheikh Zayed Bridge to Sheikh Zayed Tunnel (formerly known as Al-Qurram Street). The restriction will be enforced during both morning and evening peak hours on Monday, October 9, 2023.
Peak Hours:
The prohibition will be enforced at the times of day when demand is at its highest: from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the morning and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the evening.
Safety Measures:
The decision aligns with the authorities' proactive efforts to enhance traffic management and reduce accidents caused by certain types of vehicles. The Abu Dhabi Police General Command has issued directives urging drivers to avoid traveling during the specified timeframes and to adhere to traffic regulations.
