The Dubai Police have issued a warning over the inappropriate use of e-scooters on highways, which has resulted in over 10,000 violations and five deaths in the previous eight months.
The authorities cautioned in a post labeled X against riding a bicycle in a manner that puts either the rider's own life or the lives and safety of others at jeopardy.
Those who are found engaging in the behavior seen in the video will be subject to a fine of AED300.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic, emphasized Dubai Police's commitment to increasing traffic awareness and education for all road users in order to minimize the number of traffic accidents and human deaths.
Al Mazroui has emphasized the significance of riders of bicycles and electric scooters adhering to the established safety protocols.
"Compliance with traffic regulations, staying on designated paths, avoiding roads with speeds greater than 60 kilometers per hour, wearing helmets and reflective jackets, obeying traffic signals and other road signs, and ensuring that vehicles are equipped with bright red and reflective rear lights in addition to bright white and reflective front lights are all included in these measures. In addition to that, it is essential to have brakes that work," he remarked.
In addition, he emphasized the fact that all people who use the roads, including motorists, passengers, and pedestrians, have the right to do so in a secure manner.
Al Mazroui emphasized Dubai Police's determination to reaching the greatest levels of compliance with traffic laws, which would ultimately lead to an increase in road safety throughout the emirate.
He made it abundantly obvious that the Dubai Police Department is still actively engaged in road safety operations, the primary goal of which is to decrease infractions of traffic law and capture drivers who are irresponsible.
