India travel: Oman Air Launches Direct Flight to Thiruvananthapuram
The capital of the southern Indian state of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, will now be connected directly by air thanks to a new route that Oman Air, the country's aviation carrier, has announced.
As This strategic move aims to enhance connectivity between Oman and India and cater to the growing demand for travel between these destinations. The new route is scheduled to begin operations on October 1, 2023.
Convenient Connectivity
Oman Air will operate this route using a Boeing 737 aircraft, boasting a passenger capacity of 162. Flights between Muscat and Thiruvananthapuram will be available on Sundays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This expanded flight network will offer travelers more flexibility and convenience when planning their journeys.
Flight Schedule
The flight schedule is designed to accommodate the needs of passengers traveling between Muscat and Thiruvananthapuram.
- Sundays and Wednesdays: The aircraft will arrive at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport at 7.45 am and depart for Muscat at 8.45 am.
- Thursdays: Flights will arrive in Thiruvananthapuram at 1.55 pm and depart for Muscat at 4.10 pm.
- Saturdays: Passengers will experience a 2.30 pm arrival in Thiruvananthapuram, with departure for Muscat scheduled at 3.30 pm.
Increasing Connectivity
This initiative marks Oman Air as the second airline to connect Muscat and Thiruvananthapuram directly, with Air India Express already operating daily services on this route. The decision to introduce this service comes as a response to the growing passenger demand and the desire to facilitate seamless travel options for residents and tourists alike.
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Statistics
Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, one of the busiest airports in India, caters to an average of 12,000 passengers daily and witnesses a total of 82 aircraft movements each day. During the first quarter of the fiscal year 2023–24, the airport recorded a substantial 1.04 million passenger movements. This highlights the significance of the Muscat-Thiruvananthapuram route in meeting the travel needs of a substantial number of passengers.
Additional Route: Lucknow to Muscat
In addition to the Muscat-Thiruvananthapuram route, Oman Air is set to resume flights between Lucknow and Muscat, commencing on October 1, 2023. Initially, the airline will operate nine weekly flights on this route, with plans to increase the frequency to ten flights by December. This expansion reflects Oman Air's commitment to broadening its flight network and providing passengers with enhanced travel options and accessibility.
